Bespoke text portraits

My Portraits in Prose capture important milestones in my clients’ lives. Together, we reflect on all that matters most to them, capturing their thoughts and feelings in words (just their own or involving loved ones too). I then create bespoke text portraits with those words: narratives of varying styles, content and lengths, depending on what’s required. The characterful resulting text can then be styled in myriad ways e.g. framed as a gift, accompanying pictures in a photo book or featured within custom-made wedding stationery. LGBTQ+ inclusive.

You’ll find six classic milestones profiled: testament to new life, an established family, a birthday or anniversary, an engagement or marriage, life’s achievements or a loved one ‘in memoriam’.

If you’ve already got a milestone in mind, whether yours or someone else’s, then next you’d consider the form you’d like our writing to take, followed by who might contribute their words to the process.

The form will influence the text’s length – whether my writing will be featured in your wedding stationery, framed in your own home (or as a gift), or as part of a photo book of your creation.

On each of the milestone pages I’ve outlined the kind of questions I might ask our contributors, who we may involve in our information gathering and how I could use the words collected.

Bear in mind I only create the bespoke text portrait itself though, I don’t get involved in the final presentation – although I can offer plenty of ideas and advice on which form and style might work best.

All my bespoke writing is informed by 15 years of professional writing experience, telling the stories of people’s lives and working with hundreds of different clients.

Others’ online offer of ‘personalised writing’ may involve an interview or completing a form of some kind, but this unique multi-phase process is far more intuitive, responsive and satisfying.

Whatever the Portrait, clients often contribute both individually and jointly, thereby keeping some elements a surprise and making their first reading even more meaningful.
